930 vs. 964 turbo values
So, how valuable are 1989 930s anyway? As much as or even more than a 3.3 964 turbo?
Sure we can debate the merits of coils over torsion bars, raw feel against refinement, but which would YOU prefer?

You can check out the current Excellence mag for the annual 911 Turbo pricing article. The 965s seem are valued slightly higher than the 930s.
Splitting hairs, the 930 is a bit more raw (but with more character), while the 965 is a bit more refined. I don't think the average non-Porsche enthusiast would notice much difference, though.

As with all these cars condition, mileage, originality and color play a direct roll in value. The 89 with G50 is a desirable car for those wanting the original 930. My one issue with the 930 was the 4 speed box. Adding the G50 made a huge improvement in safety. Many 930's were upgraded with the RUf 5 speed box which was a nice upgrade but being from the factory helps. If the 89 is low mileage, clean well maintained car it can easily bring as much as a comparable 3.3l 964. Although the prices of the 964 3.3's have shown some increase since it has been discovered that there were less made than originally thought and it is getting harder to find low mileage clean 964T's. Condition and originality will dictate. As far as raw feeling. I think both have a very similar engine feel what sets the 2 apart is the suspension. After years of owning various torsion bar cars I can no longer own one the coil over suspension is just superior in many ways. The 964T also has the advantages of an 85% different body with far more torsional rigidity, air bags, far larger brakes, K27 turbo, a larger IC and much better A/C for starters. Down side it is heavier.

I have a 91 964 Turbo and it is a much better car than my old 3.3. 930. Better brakes less turbo lag, better suspension, better gearbox, better a/c. I wouldn't go back.
