Saved the 9'er

Being a field tech for General Electric I get a couple of Fed Ex shipments each day. Today I just happened to be home as the Fed Ex guy dropped off some packages. He got out of the truck and went to the rear to get the shipments. He had left the truck in gear. Truck started rolling straight for the 911 and garage. Superman would have been proud as I ran between the cars, pulled open the door, jumped into the truck and jammed on the brakes. As the Fed Ex guy recovered from shock, I reminded him that Fed Ex really didn't want to buy a Porsche today.

Hah! That is nothing.
I was adjusting my clutch not long ago and stupidly forgot e brake since I was in a hurry.
Got under the car, there is a slight decline (happened to be at my folks' house)

And it started to roll with me under it.

That's right, I blocked it with my BODY under the front wheel and yelled for help to come pull e brake.

Death or car rolling into street to collide with traffic. I (rather dramatically) choose death.

Top that.

(okay, so it wasn't like flying out of the driveway...still...I'd have hurled myself under there anyway!) Don't try it at home kids.

That's nothing.

Don't you hate it when you have a great story, and somebody else says "That's nothing."!

They're BOTH great stories. But for sheer adrenaline, dramatic interest, product placement and plot pacing, I have to go with the FedEx story.

All of this talk, reminds me:

"Porsche, there is no substitute!"

I am sure you can remember the rest....

Especially when they open the door...

Holy cats!

If the SCWDP had a newspaper, the headline would read something like this:
Courageous and heroic owner saves pristine 911SC from destruction!

Porsche Crest Well Done

In addition to saving your beloved 911, I bet you saved that man's job as well! I hear UPS/FedEx drivers aren't given ANY slack when it comes to accidents. That guy owes you big time!

After reading this post my wife and I agree that no delivery trucks will be allowed in our driveway anymore!

Well Robert, now you've gone and done it!

You missed an opportunity for a FREE 993.

Yeah Mark, reaction was faster than rationalization. Hah. If I had been a little slower and got sandwiched, could have retired! Too much hassle though. Just glad it turned out good. Driver is a great kid, just in a hurry. I don't think he will park behind the 911 anymore.

i have a couple of friends that are fed-ex drivers.
one thing many people don't know is that fed-ex drivers (as it was explained to me) aren't given thier trucks, the trucks belong to the driver, so it would've been his insurance that would've had to pay if something happened.
buy i must say, NICE SAVE
