From the picture, looks similar to my original Gemini metallic blue, but it's hard to tell....

First, how did you establish that it was Lhasa when you first posted about that?
The code written into the booklet is a marketing code for the color, not the color code itself.
Look for labels such as pictured or mentioned here:

In some 1982 cars is stuck right in the engine bay. It is one of the many stickers that lines the leading edge of the engine bay support, where the engine lid latch connects to.

It is the three digit code that you need to find: xxx or Lxxx.
If you find that code on the decal:

then the name will be spelled out and the two digit marketing code is on the lower line. The marketing code (2 digit) is doubled for a coupe, and is what is written in your record booklet. Take photos and post them so that the codes can be documented for others.

Looks like light blue to me - I's say paint it whatever freakin color you want.

JeremyD, is your Arrow Blue a single stage paint? I so want mine that color.

This is what I found out about my car - emailed from another pelicanite

Body sandblasted to metal top and bottom
Minor repairs done to body (was in excellent shape with no rust)
New undercoating
2 coats of primer to top and bottom
1 coat of sealer to top and bottom
4 coats of Deltron Porsche blue to top and bottom
All body parts were striped and painted separate from body, then installed with new rubber.

no way is that Gemini, Arrow, Gulf, or some of the others that people are just throwing out

find the sticker itself and see what that says - if it is a custom # then you are still in trouble

you can get a quality shop to use a reader/gun to analyze the color, which has no doubt faded from sun exposure any way

Surely there must be a table somewhere that links the paint number to the color code? I remember I had the same frustration on my '83SC as the paint code label was long gone. Here is an example for 912 colors:

Stunning (every Arrow Blue car) The only code that fits (2nd and 4th digit is a 7) is a yellow! that is on the 912 paint code, B7B7.

I guess there is always the possibility that the person at the dealership filled in the manual wrong :)

Here are the close matches -

Call me crazy but I have always wondered if an exterior color may have changed on the production line? Reason being is that until recently I owned an '82 928 that I purchased from the original owner at 29,000miles. Zero accident history. The exterior was pacific blue metallic which is a fairly dark blue/grey color. One of the wheel wells was painted this color and the other 3 were a much lighter metallic blue about the shade of hellblau metallic. Not noticeable unless you had the car on a lift. The rear hatch interior under the carpet was also painted in this lighter blue color. I wondered if someone special ordered a color and then canceled the order once the car was painted would the factory change the color of a car if it had not left the paint shop? The other scenario would be if there were paint flaws that required a complete repaint would they strip the paint and send it back to the beginning of the paintshop line whereupon it may end up with a different exterior color to what might be showing inside the tub?

Just doing a handwriting comparison, we see an example of his W, 7, and 2. Based on that, I can only interpret the writing as "U7U7".

You are sure that is the original color under the seats?

I believe that Cobalt Blue Metallic has a black base, then a blue, then some metallic, then clearcoat. Could the color under the seats just be the metallic part of the black?

Where is the option code list on an 84 911? I checked under the front and rear hoods, on the driver's and passenger door jambs. I have a VIN metal sticker, but no options.


My car was built in 9/83 and I am finding some strange inconsistencies in what options I have vs. what people say was available.

It's U2U2, "Light Metallic Blue".

+1 for U2U2 light blue metallic. I had an SC in this colour and it looks like the perfect match of your rear seat area.
