Modernised backdate?

I've always thought that a backdated 911 rear looks a bit "thin" with the muffler showing below. Here is a possible future project (Photoshoped).
Anyone got similar ideas? Let us see them.

I agree! One elegant solution from the beginning was the stainless lower skirt. My friend's 71 has it and I have seen a few others.

I actually kinda like it too. It's definitely unique! Of course, I don't get what people see in RUF bumpers I'd like to see what it looks like in a side view. How would it match the front bumper?

I have an IROC bumper in RS width. It hangs down way too low below the bumper for the width: it looks lower than the doorsills. That skirt only works on the 13inch 3.0RSR flares. I want the thin look someday in the future. I am thinking of cuttting off the skirt.

Love it. I don't like skinny butt cars. This puts some continuity in the way the lines flow. The old bumper seemed like an after thought by comparison. This looks more integral

White makes it look horrible and fat. Try to re-do that photoshop in black and you might find different results here.

This thread seems awfully familiar; someone else around here is dealing with a similar problem. Here's one of the possibilities. The bumper would have more character than as shown, probably identical to a longhood end but you get the picture:

I think it looks good. Maybe bring the wheels out closer to the arches and lower it a little and it's perfect

it looks fantastic. only concern I would have is will it trap/radiate more heat to the engine.

Only if it's an air-cooled engine placed in the rear.

Please tell me that you mean Jack's Black Beauty....
Which is not really a backdate, it's a '72.

I like it but it needs to be a package so the bottom lip of the rear bumper, rockers and front bumper/dam are all in a line if looked at from the side. The side skirts/rockers on my car came from a kit years ago that was pretty cool looking, but god only knows where the molds are and I only bought the rockers. If you look at the pics of my car you will see that the rockers hang pretty low and that is because the the rear bumper that was in the kit hung down almost like the pic in this thread.

Precisely his is a 72 with cleaner lines (the rear window and the way he did the rear valence), updated motor, updated suspension to be honest I have never been a big fan of the older long hood cars but there have been some that have been special like this one and speedo's restoration that just ooze class. We should all agree that jack's car is titled as a 72 but nearly everything under the skin is updated.
