1986 911 backup lights
I just installed a new back up switch and plunger, still no back up lights. touch the switch with a probe and the lights come right on, switch tests alright.Thanks for the help,

Sounds like the plunger in the trans is not hitting the switch. Did they work recently or is this a new to you 911?

I just bought the car about 6 mon. ago,I bought the switch thinking thats what it was took old switch out and no pin in tranny. ordered new pin put together and nothing, does the plunger work on pressure from the fluid? thanks

I could be about to sound like a real dummy, but been called worse, lol. Just trying to help...are the bulbs good? You only mention testing the switch, but it seems to me it would test OK even with bad bulbs? Is the wiring OK to the lights? When you say, "...the lights come right on...", do you mean the probe indication? Besides that, I had to (years ago) clean the contacts (bulb receptacle) for my right side parking light three times before it would stay lit...still does.

When the probe is inserted into the switch the backup lights come on,all new lights and i cleaned the sockets..dont know what to say???

Linkage adjusted properly? Maybe reverse is not fully engaging.
