Bosch Starter: Rebuild vs. Replace with new
I have a '69 original starter that still working fine, but is really really tired looking. Dirty and rusty as a result of east coast winter driving in the 70's.
I see Pelican sells new Bosch starters for ~$130, which is also the cost of a rebuild. Is there anything special about the old Bosch starters that I should preserve with a rebuild, or should i just slap in a new one?

No such thing as a "new" Bosch for your model. They are all remans.
There another thread on remans in the past few days.....take a look at that. My opinion is to have a local shop rebuild it....they tend to replace everything that is marginal. Lot's of fails right out the box on cheap remans, or within a month or two. Labor is expensive and/or time comsuming if you DIY.... |

If it's still working then I'd leave it alone. 911s are easy to "bump start" if the starter fails. Nothing special about the original so if you want to replace it a rebuilt one is fine.
