Auto Heat Console Access
Just a quick question. I need to check that the control rod has not fallen off on my auto heat. So I can see that there are two access panels just below the center dial between the seats. I also can feel that there is a clip? on each of the panels.
Do I push forward, backwards, up, or down to remove the panel. I am hoping to do this without removing the seat. If the rod is disconnected, then I will remove the seat. Thanks so much.

One edge of each of the access panels has a small place that you can pry it out with a small screwdriver or other contorted tool that allows access. The rod is behind the panel on the passenger's side and you MIGHT be able to rehook it by feel without removing the seat.

you will be able to see the rod. I replaced the rod connectors many years ago by removing the dial, the nut that holds the rotary switch, and the four screws holding the housing. pm me as needed. Good luck, Gerry
