Proud owner of a Chevy Suburban 3/4 ton.
Tows my 36 foot Sea Ray, hauls building materials and tools for home remodeling, and Porsche parts around. When visitors come to town or the kids need a parent to support constructive group activities we haul gobs of people. When hunting season rolls around (coming soon) my 'Burb goes places in them thar hills that takes chains on 4 wheels and brass kahonies. It's pretty satisfying to haul out 2 elk (whole) and four hunters in one vehicle - in 18 inches of snow! From Thanksgiving to Easter we go skiing alomost every weekend, and its real nice to have a beast in snow going over Vail pass at 11 PM on Friday night. I've never bent up anyone else's car with my SUV, although it sometimes gets bent doing what SUVs are capable of doing. Until recently I owned two 'Burbs, until the primary hunting rig was donated to Warren Tech for high school kids to learn auto body repair (hunting stories in those dents). Like anything else, take gun control for example. The problem isn't the tool it's the person using the tool. BTW a good frame shop should be able to straighten the frame, buy some replacement parts on this site, and with a little sweat you'll have your P-car back to normal --- ask me how I know. My tale is getting hit by a big yellow school bus driving on the wrong side of the road backing out of my driveway! |
I hate it when that happens. Any plans to fix it? Or is it too far gone?

SUV got me good style........he was eating a Subway and didn't even look as he revered into me as I was reversing into my spot.......Insurance said it was 50/50.....mine paid up but still....
look how far over in my 'slot' I was... :( All mended now and pretty again http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1284548029.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1284548059.jpg Neil |

+1. I recall a conversation with one of my wife's co-workers when she explained that she drove a Suburban because she was such a bad driver. Meaning, I know I am going to have an accident so I just want to make sure I am safe, forget what will happen to the hapless soul I run into.

The above are good arguments for a high mounted 3rd brake light. Good addition in a 911.
There are some good, small, led units that mount right in the top of the rear window. There's a good thread on here from several months ago. Search. |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1284578288.jpg I can't tell you how many times I've cringed at a stoplight, just waiting to get rearended. People seem to need to get really close to the back of a 911. I actually got out one time, took a look, and told the dumbass behind me that he still had about 6" to go. |

I also agree most owers are selfish (not Pelicans of course :D ) drive agressively (they think they can't can hurt) and create a situation in many towns where its difficult to park as there is no space left for normal sized vehicles. I am so sick of not being able to open my car door because some soccer mum has taken all the space with her Yukon etc. P |
I think I will mount a trailer stop lamp on my cab's roll bar.....

Okay, sorry for the delay. First of all my sincere thanks for all the good wishes. I am fine, no blood no foul. I apologize if my remarks about SUV's were taken personally as that was not the intention. You are correct, it's not the vehicle its the nitwit operating it. I'm still shaking my head to his response to my question post accident at the scene when I asked him what happened...he replied "I wasn't paying attention". Nice. He was cited and drove home, ouch. The car is up at the shop who has done all the work over 18+years. It looks like it may live. The good news is the insurance company admitted to the value of $18-$20k so we will wait and see what the body shop guru determines.
Again thanks to all. |
...and I am very glad I wasn't riding the Triumph....
