resistor
you need the resistor that goes on your alternator light in the dash,, do a search here for the size and capacity 5k ohm i think..
it goes across the light and excites the alternator.

sorry your correct... The dash light is connected at the IGN... i forgot to illustrate that. Is that what your refering too?

If you want to kill the alternator it's better to take it out and hit it with a sledgehammer! ![]() DF= black wire from VR to DF terminal on the alternator. This is the "Dynamo Field" wire, it sends voltage from the VR directly to the alternator field. D+/61, this is the "blue wire circuit." The "blue wire" circuit is like this Battery----> ignition switch -----> bulb holder for warning light in oil pressure gauge ----> blue wire to electrical console ---> voltage regulator ----> D+/61 terminal on alternator. In your diagram above, REMOVE the green wires! And connect a blue wire between the IGN terminal of the Voltage Regulator and the bulb holder in the dash. Other terminal of the bulb holder goes to +12v from the ignition switch. D- ground ok B+ battery positive OK. Search here for "blue wire" for a couple dozen threads that explain how this work. Not trying to scare you, but the way you have it set up, you are basically going to burn up the alternator in a very short time. Good luck!

Just to be clear the colors do not reflect the actual colors of my connections. The wires are not original color.
Currently this is how the black wirer on the diagram is plugged in... Battery----> ignition switch -----> bulb holder for warning light in oil pressure gauge ----> blue wire to electrical console ---> voltage regulator ----> D+/61 terminal on alternator. |

If i understand you correctly i am connected the way you discribed. The green wire is a mitigation to my issue discribed above with the VR and it's need to be jolted to start working.

Very wierd
So i finally fixed my issue and did not need to wirer the car differently. What is weird is that the voltage regulator is now charging the battery and all it needed was a boost. What i did was installed the regulator like i mentioned above and it did not work. I connected the green wirer with the resister between the FLD and the + feed for one second and it worked. The weird thing is i turned off the car expecting it to need another jolt but it works fine.
I'm not sure what is the fix here but maybe this can help someone with a voltage regulator issue similar to mine... |

I was following your thread and the last Post references "Below is a diagram" but nothing is attached. i am having the exact same issue putting a 911 engine ion a 912 and i don't want to cross wire the regulator. Will you reply with your diagram or repost? thanks for your time
