idling problems

My 75 911 runs fine, but idles really high when cold (2500rpm's) I can't get it to go down, then after a short drive and park (30-45 mins.) it idles really low, under 500. I've messed with idle screw and timing adjustments. I'm only a novice mechanic, but can probably try to sort it.
