Leaking from here (pic inside) confused on how to fix it
Hey guys, I'm leaking from a cover on the engine and it leaks quite a bit. You can see on the picture that there are a couple of drops ready to fall and that's about 2-3 minutes after parking it. It looks like a plug so I don't really know how to fix it exactly. I'm also very new to these engines and have no clue what is behind that cover so I'd appreciate any input. I'm trying to get everything nice and tidy before my first track day with the car in November and getting rid of this leak would be nice.
   On the opposite side is the front of the engine (as seen from the rear) and there looks to be an oil line there |

Are you sure it's that plug leaking abd not the head? If the head is leaking, its very possible to be broken head stud(s).

The head didn't seem to be leaking, I'll double check. IIRC the head studs were replaced before I got a hold of it

That is the pin that supports the idler and the tensioner. The factory presses it in place and then puts JB weld type sealer on the outside. I would clean the area and JB weld it.

hard to see in that pic, but it looks like the pin is sticking out more than it should. a proper fix may involve replacing the chain housing if the pin is loose.

Thank you very much for your responses guys. I got a little worried and spent 3 hours rereading on broken studs after the first post not to mention some high blood pressure lol.
To be honest I like the sound of Flat6pac's solution better since it doesn't involve me replacing the chain housing. The pin doesn't seem loose just leaky. Would I be ok to clean it and JB weld. Also is there a measurement of how much is ok to stick out? It doesn't make any noise and runs very well outside of the leak that's leaving a small puddle after I drive it. Thanks again |

the other end is supported by a hole inside the chain housing cover. if it works it's way out enough, it won't be supported on both ends. try to tap it in until it bottoms out, which should be when it's about flush with the side of the housing. clean with brake kleen and JB weld it. put a piece of duct tape on the epoxy so it doesn't sag while it sets up.
