Question Te-nine-O Report

Hope those boys didn't unbolt any kryptonite from Superman's SC! Thought there might be a report by now.

Yeah Randy...I've been wondering if it'll be too many cooks spoiling the broth, or many helping hands making the job go well, like an old fashioned barn raising? Whichever, it's bound to make one heck of a yarn!

THANKS SUPERMAN!

didn't see any wolves. Just mostly spectators.

Jim and Tyson actually worked
But at least they had the proper tools. . .a berr and a trouble light; what more does a guy need?

Randy Wells ask for an estimate to drop his engine. . .

Nah, we were just droolling.

Super got the engine down. . .

And out

And the reall reason for the clinc;

NICE WORK SUPERMAN

And THANKS SUPERMAN!

Thanks Jim and Tyson for the engine drop clinic. I had a blast and learned a bunch. I hope I don't have to do this too soon, but I'm happy to say I feel more comfortable with the idea now.

It was fun to see all the NW Pelicanheads! Thanks to everyone for the comraderie and yuks........Special thanks to Superman and his hospitality . Best of luck with that head stud, Jim, and let us know when you're ready to put her back in.

Looks like you guys had some serious fun ... with all of those 'tools' on the shelving! AND, YOU CERTAINLY DIDN'T NEED AN ENGINE HOIST WITH ALL OF THOSE WARM BODIES ON HAND!!!

But, if you were making stew or chili ... you might have had a few too many cooks on hand!

Man, it's the curse of expertise. Wherever Tyson goes, he gets put to work. Here he is on a "vacation" to Los Angeles:

Looks like it was a good time, though.

Hey Noah,
I may be over an hour away, but if you need some help with something let me know. I'm able to open up my schedule every day but Saturday.
I'm thinking about heading up to the Burlington area this Weds and Thurs...

How many.....

.....beer drinking Pelican heads does it take to remove an engine, you ask? Quite a few, if you go by to this shot:

In reality, all it took was about 3 talented and skilled individuals.
Tyson, Tacoma911, and of course, Superman himself, had the motor dropped in a remarkably short time.
It's the rest of us who stood around drinking the beer and eating all Superman's vittles!!

I knew I'd have a great time meeting all our Pac-North Wet friends again. But I was also hoping to learn a few things as well. And I did.....thanks to Jim's warm invitation to attend.

Nice work guys. Wish I could have been there, but come on why so many guys? I had to take my engine out ALONE 3 times now. Anyone know how hard it is to do all alone Oh well I am moving West soon enough and there should be some Porsche lovers to help next time.

Or for me to help.

Heh heh. Yeah Warren, we "drank" our tools that day.

The truth is, Superman didn't need any help at all, really. He's done this before. We were all really just there to have fun, put some faces to names. B.S., drink beer, and maybe accidentally help out a little.

I do seem to always find my way underneth a 911 whenever possible though. That's just me. I like it. Superman was doing fine on his own.

That shot of all of us lifting the engine onto the stand? Well, the "Man of Steel" was just letting us feel useful.

More from Ten-Nine-O

Here's a few more images from Superman's Engine Drop Clinic.....

A great tip....Do you need the co$tly Porsche flywheel lock to remove your flywheel? Nahh. Just look closely at how a common item (an old lawnmower blade) was used to lock the flywheel for removal (that's Tyson supplying the muscle, while Tacoma911 supervises)....

Super' and Tacoma911 removing the Confounded Injection System....

C.I.S. 'Unplugged'. I have a new appreciation and respect for this contraption after seeing it up close and personal...

This one may be of interest to those of you who are plagued with oil leaks. The oval flanged/domed plate held on with 2 nuts is your engine oil cooler thermostat. Superman's looked like it had been leaking a fair amount. Easy to fix with the motor out. Very hard otherwise....

And who says Superman lived in the office of The Daily Planet newspaper?....

What a great weekend, with memories that will last for a very long time. Thanks guys!

Did you guys know each other before getting together for the engine drop?

Or was it just very spontaneous?

Okay, this could really turn into a ritualistic event for us pelicanheads. I can visualize little clusters of pelicans around the country coming to one anothers rescue "just for the bonding experience" what a cool way to meet the guys behind all the wacky nicknames. I want to know who is next for this kind of thing, I mean hey! with all of the renewed patriotism and togetherness we are enjoying what better time to get together and exchange friendship without the use of cyberspace.

you guys are a great example of what a common interest can do to bring people together and have shown the true goodness of the human spirit. My hat is off to you gentlemen!
