My new 911 on the way

Well, here is the story.

I sold my Lamborghini in January to the insurance company and ever since I have been looking for something. My biggest hesitation is I live primarily in Mexico and some times in Scottsdale. I would search Craigslist, Ebay, Pelican. I could never define what Iwanted.....if anything. Early turbo? 911 SC? 1973 E (car I had when I was 18).

So, last week, I was doing my usual search on Ebay and this car caught my eye. RED! over tan. Cool combination.

BIN was well over the first bid, so, I bid. I was never going to win this car. If the owner wanted so much for the car and felt strongly about the buy it now price, I was sure to be out bid. 4 days went by, still high bidder. 5 days, 6 days, still high bidder. No way was I going to win, but now I felt I had to tell the wife.

"honey, I bid on a car"..........WHAT!!!!!???? she replied. She is actually very cool when it comes to cars and bikes and me and she understands."Where are you going to keep it? Not Arizona." I told her there was no way I was going to win so it did not matter.

The last day, nine at night, one hour to go she asks me, did the auction end? I tell her in an hour but not to worry, I wont win. She then asked,"do you want to stay up and watch?" Nope, no way I was going to win.

Next morning, turn on the computer and....and......and......OH ****! I won. What was I going to do? BUY IT! Woooooohooooooo.

The seller has been great to deal with and has been very accommodating. And, my buddy in AZ is going to receive the car and store it until I can get up there. He gets the pleasure of testing it out and keeping it running right. A few trips around the block if he wants.

Car is on the way to AZ.

I still don't know for sure where this car will end up, but with MY perceived value (I feel I got a great little car for little money), It could come to Mexico. Having it sit in AZ might be too rough.

I really do not know what I am doing. Sometimes in life, you just have to wing it. Could be bad, could be good, could be great.

I am excited

Wait - you sold the Forbes to an insurance company?? That was a gorgeous car - what happened? Anyways, you'll have a blast with your new ride!

Diablo was under a tent at Russo And Steele and the wind picked up a pole and slammed on top of the car more than once. Needless to say, the car was deemed totaled and is in the hands of another individual.

I liked it, did ot love it. The Diablo I had before the Forbes I loved. I sold it to buy a Murci and never purchased the Murci.

With this Porsche purchase, I wanted something that would be somewhat non fickle and fun. Not so serious.

the engine has been torn down and modified 2.7 with the usual upgrades.
$16K

1977 S

Wife is not pissed....at least she doesn't lead on to be pissed.

I had a great year, so she does not complain.

I was paid handsomely from the insurance company anyways, so this purchase was nothing.....in comparison.

My problem is my proximity to the car. Of course I want to drive it, right now.

New porsche for you

Wow! if that car runs as good as it looks you are in for a lot of fun. I can see why the distance is an issue for you.
Let us know of your impressions once you get under way with it.

Cheers Richard

Great story - hope the car works out for you. Looks very nice. I did notice the exhaust changed in the pics - did the seller switch back and forth from racing straight pipes to a one out muffler? Did they include them in the sale?

Wow, pretty brave to buy a car on Ebay sight unseen. Hopefully you are not dealing with some guy from Nigeria with a dead uncle who left him a porsche....or the guy who will ship you the car after you send payment and offer full refund if not satisfied...

lets see, the car is on the way and I have docs in hand. Looks like there are no Nigerians involved.

I may be naive, but I got a sense for the guy I was dealing with, and everything has been smooth so far.

in passively trying to sell my car, the demands of the people inquiring are ridiculous. PPI, leak-down, etc etc. No, they aren't willing to come see the car, but you better have mountains of paperwork, full rebuild history, etc etc.

I bought mine based on the POs info and my own driving & inspection of the car. Kudos to people who have common sense

IMO - you should switch out those sugar scoops headlights for H4's and change the single flag mirror to an aero (to match the bumper mods) and a nice set of 17" Zuff fuchs
