if you want something to hold you over, try the Dr. Colorchip. I had pretty good results with my 83 Ruby Red cabriolet that looked much like your front end. I will see if I can find the pics I posted and post them here for you to see.

Will,
That's what I call patina. Its hard earned and honest. My front bumper looks the same. My solution is not to look so closely (also probably not as noticeable with my color as your black). If it really bothers you, my vote is restore.

Thanks Jacob.. I think I'll use Dr. Colorchip for now. Just wishful thinking (going IROC) but I've got maintenance projects lined up this winter. Maybe next year or so.

That's just about what the front of my car looks/looked like. I've spent considerable time just spotting the chips with touch-up paint from paintscratch.com. Still looks not so good up close, but from a few feet away, it looks fine. I'll settle for that. I mean, it's a 28-year-old driver.

Man, that could have been a shot from my car too, except for the color. It's impossible to keep them pristine when you take cross-country trips and do autocross and track days. The Dr. Color Chip does look promising, though.

Yes Dr. Colorchip 'road rash' kit.
Step 2 'removing excess paint & blending process' is a PITA but I'm OK with it for now.

Shane,
Loved your write-up! I'm thinking of going the Dr. C route. How did you find the match to your color? Also, Did you ever wet sand or polish later on? I wonder if an orbital buffer or polisher would lift out the paint and leave the bare chips..?

great job! +1 on the pain of excess removal step. In the middle of redoing mine now. I will post a before pic tonight sometime... looks like I never started, but I think it is due to new road rash I tend to drive the car a lot (typically). I will post results later as well.
