VW headlight bucket converting to H4 7inch headlight

I noticed a post using VW clear lens headlight assembly buckets to mount your 7 inch headlight units.

Question- I have a H4 fluted lens on a euro delivered 911 and it does not have the 4 x sugarscoop mount points inside the mudguards inside the headlight bucket for the Hella headlight bucket like the US cars.

Did you still use the rear mounting points for your 7 inch headlight or did you mount the new 7inch headlight inside the VW bucket?

I can't see from the photo. I'm worried about the weight of the headlight if I use the VW bucket mounting as I will use the new 7 inch Trucklite LED headlight and they heavier than other 7 inch H4 headlight units

Any help appreciated, Markhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1428724607.jpg

I was looking to reproduce the Cibie bi iode reflector for early 911R reproduction cars. I wanted to be able to use different lens diffuser design for light management and looks. Using updated reflector design and finish to maximize reach and durability. Made contact with an engineer that works for a company that supplies the aerospace industry with reflectors. He custom built some reflectors for me for this project. Using H1 and H4 bulbs in conjunction with period lenses came up with these updated reproduction dual reflector headlamps. They work extremely well and retain the factory race look. The iodes can be used in conjunction o r individually, either a low beam of 80, a high beam of 100, a driving flood of 100, or a combo of both at 200. Shown here the reflectors bare, and behind Cibie Z lens refractors. Lots of options with these headlights. Thought I'd share my attempt at up dating headlights in this thread...seemed appropriate. The direction of the post was a low cost alternative to high dollar real parts. These fit the parameter as these are well below the cost to buy original bi iode headlights.
Did these ever get built?

You will not blind anyone. I have had HID's in my car for over 10 yrs. The lighting pattern is fine. I get a lot more light on the road and I have never been flashed by anyone thinking I have high beams on. I have installed over 500 sets of HID,s at my shop since they have come out . They do work better in projector headlights. I use a Japanese made HIDs. They are much better than the china crap everyone buys on line. They design the bulb so it is in the exact same place as a halogen bulb so the light pattern is very similar just brighter

the h4 light mounts in the vw assembly which then mounts to the car's bucket by the tab on top and the screw on the bottom.

might be a dumb question, but will this mod work on the 964? Am I correct in thinking that the headlights in the 911 and 911 (964) are the same? I have an Australian Delivered (RHD) with H4 lights.

Love that the humble pre-67 VW headlight is part of this innovative Porsche 911 lighting upgrade. Very zen🤔

I'm still toying with ideas for my outlaw and was considering the 911R type side lights but seeing the clear lens idea I was wondering about mounting a side light/indicator lamp in the base below the headlamp.
There's already a hole there that needs covering and in my imagination would have the look of a 906 :D
