I have a question for the org poster, If I have suger scoops and want to convert, will all I need is the H4 trim rings plus the other items you have links too for this conversion to take place?
Thanks

The
I answered a PM question and this information may help some other also:

This picture may give you a better view. The plexiglass shroud is basically between the inner housing (which holds the mounting plate for the projector) and the glass.

These pictures are before I edged the glass upper section. The round smaller shrouds go over the plexiglass and covers the gap between the projector and the hole in the larger shroud.

Good luck on the adjusting rings Ebay had several H-4's for sale but even used they wanted too much for them, parts heaven emailed me back and the price on the chrome rings are around 120 a piece new (I think our host was the same price) so you are into these for 240 right off the bat so in that case I would just go with new H-4's If I get word from Gary at Oklahoma Foreign that he has a set then I will pass that along but I doubt they will be nice enough to leave uncovered. I will start a thread on my HID build as soon as the majority of the parts get here in roughly 2 weeks. I will have a set of H-1's if this project turns out the way I want it to and then get an adjusting screw fixed but I am not sure I will turn them loose right away just in case the local authorities take offense of all that light on the road.

mount the projectors inboard and give the car a cross-eyed look

gsmith660 12-01-2010 04:20 PM

How about mount 2 mini projectors in there and give it an evil look

gsmith660 12-03-2010 01:19 PM

I have everything ordered now and the stuff should start arriving monday some of it was stuck in Boise ID due to inclement weather.

gsmith660 12-06-2010 01:25 PM

Thanks Jeremy I got the H-4 frames today and they are as advertised. The project begins. I will be starting another thread for this. I just got the 1/8 inch aluminum so parts are arriving.

gsmith660 12-07-2010 04:38 AM

The projectors get here tomorrow so I will start the thread then.

Post the link here to the other thread, I am interested to see how it goes.

These are designed to fit in a standard housing and not a projector.

And HID capsules cobbled onto an H4 base are illegal just about everywhere, they issued "Cease and Desist" orders to companies importing them - and started fining them $10,000 and up, per pop - in 2005, perhaps earlier.

At best, these in a reflector designed for halogen bulbs produce a very poor beam pattern, at worst they blind every other road user. For example, please point to a single example you can buy from a reputable bulb manufacturer like Osam/Sylvania, Philips. Hella or Bosch?

The arc in the gas discharge chamber is simply in the wrong place and orientation to give acceptable or safe results, and many are extremely poor quality to boot, meaning acceptable and reproducible beam aiming cannot be achieved for both beams. Say professional lighting engineers.

There *are* dual-beam projectors designed to mount into H4 (or H5) bulb holes in reflectors. which would save you having to fab up projector mountings. Strictly speaking, these aren't legal either, because they're not DOT-approved. But then neither were Euro H4's.

The point being is that everyday i drive around and see crappy HID 'conversions", which at best provide the owner with better light...maybe, but nearly always end up annoying and blinding everyone else. If you want better light, great, but don't be selfish...do the job right.
Many people do not realize the actual technology differences and effects of putting the wrong bulb in the wrong projector/reflector.

Sorry it took so long but I finally got to get the car out for a quick pic of the pattern.
