Targa bar seal question

Why do some Targa bar seals have cloth material along where the side windows run and some don't?

I peeled the cloth on mine but now the window goes up pretty slow.

I need to replace it with the cloth covered targa seal now

That cloth covering is there specifically to reduce drag on the window. Eventually you pwr window motor will burn out.

I thought I had seen some without the cloth. I was asking if that's the case. If so, when was the change and why? The cloth wears out relatively quickly in my opinion.
