ignition issue ? SC top speed down

Today the top speed of my 80SC was measured ; 137 mph. There should be more, right ? I'll blame it on the ignition for now. When checking with timing light no marks are visible at 6000 rpm so I'm guessing advance is off, which can be fixed.

137 sounds about right for an SC.

Totally stock, this would be about right.

Seeing as how you have the Bitz setup, I would suggest looking at the fuel parameters.

There are a lot of variables that can affect top speed.

From Another site...

Model 1979-1983 Porsche 911 SC
0-60MPH 7.0 seconds
Top Speed 135MPH
Category Production (1979-1983)
Engine 6 cylinder (opposed), 2994cc, 3.0L
Horsepower 180 hp at 5500 rpm (1978/79), 188 hp (1980), 204 hp at 5900Rpm (1981/82/83)
Torque 265 Nm at 4200 rpm (1979-1981), 267 Nm (1981-1983)
Transmission 5-Speed manual
Description Rear-engine

Porsche used the same 1975 Carrera 3.0 engine in this luxurious sports car. The new SC engine was more reliable and had more potential for future tuning than old engine. The engine however didn't deliver as much power as the Carrera 3.0L engine, but because more torque was available at lower revolutions, which made the car was nicer to drive. This car ticks 60MPH mark in less than 7 seconds and tops 135MPH.
