Targa adjustment

I have a new to me used top, very nice shape, fits well except for wind noise above 50 mph at the drivers side windshield corner. If I grasp the frame at the corner hinge and pull it downward strongly it eliminates the noise. Is there any trick to adjusting that corner downward-is it simply a matter of adjusting the latch height, or does the pin need to get futzed with as well? Looking for the voice of experience.

don't think you can adjust other than moving the sliding plates (clips) around. Do a search on Carsinc and you'll find a guy who knows an awful lot about targa top adjustments. One thing I gathered is that the replacement rubber in the windshield grove is too big and holds the top up too high. I've tried trimming mine and I still get wind noise.

If I recall there is some good info on minor targa top adjustments in this thread:

My wind noise seems like it's coming from the vent glass. It's driving me crazy trying to locate the exact source.

Buffjamr, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you a copy of the Porsche Service School manual titled "Targa Roof Repairs." It details all the methods for adjusting the targa top. It helped me alot! I copied the manual in a pdf file which, unfortunately, I can't post here.

David,

I can't configure my PM yet (rookie Pelican) - Could you please send me the Targa Tips document?

I can post it on a webserver and we can all reference it in the future without any hassle.

I'm lucky enough to have my Targa Top in perfect working condition but wise enough to know I'll someday be wondering how to fix it....

thanks

My email crashed this morning trying to send the manual again (after I deleted the personal mails, that's how I was keeping track of who I it sent to ). If you didn't get a copy, please send me another PM and I'll resend on Monday -- I'm out of town this weekend.

Dave, PM sent !

Greg I have the same problem as your top, after mine
was overhauled by Dan at Carsinc. Hopefully this manual
will give me some insight on how to remedy the wind noise
