Porsche Crest '83 sc is running....but not convinced it's completely fixed...

Even though the car is running, I'm not convinced that just cleaning the rotor solved the problem. I have a new distributor cap, rotor and a longer 928 distributor pulse wire in transit to Texas from Pelican. I am going to replace the green wire from the dizzy all the way to the CDI box. That is IF and when I can find some 6.3mm female blade terminals w/locks for the CDI harness end. These crimp style terminals are apparently rare and incredibly hard to find (at least so far). They have to be the locking style so the pins will not push out of the connector housing when plugged into the CDI unit...

You probably have a multi-meter to test continuity but if not get one. Also, Permatune.com has some good trouble-shooting tips for finding ignition system gremlins.

While your in there, replace the pick-up in the distributor. You can get one at NAPA. The green wire is just that, A wire. (a small coax cable) Just make sure there is not a brake or open in the wire. (that's what the meter is for)!

Porsche Crest

I have been posting about my ignition "gremlins" for several weeks now. I have checked everything there is to check on the Permadoom (per their website technical support). Everything checked out. Also verified the voltage to the input power pin to the CDI unit with the ignition key ON and also in the START position. The voltages were fine. I have narrowed it down to an intermittent distributor pulse wire (new one on the way) and/or an intermittent internal problem with the Permadoom box...
