More newbie questions
I am a newbie but have been studying the forum for about 9 months and bought a Bentley manual with the car ('88 Targa). I have also tried the forum search engine with some success, but unfortunately have lots of questions and need some forum help. First one should be easy. After reading Pelican and SW's website, I checked the throttle travel and determined it has about 3/8 inch more to go with the gas pedal floored. Can anyone tell me exactly how to take up the play in the throttle linkage? Also, I would like to check the full throttle switch but how the heck do I remove the plug from the switch?
The second issue is a bit tougher. The Targa top seals well except for the driver's window. With the window up all the way, it rides on the outside of the rubber gasket located just below the rain gutter instead of going into the slit or gap in the molding where it seems it should go (top photo below). That pushes the window out and creates a gap where the driver's window meets the Targa bar gasket (middle photo). While the passenger's window isn't perfect, it is a whole lot better. I've tried adjusting the large rubber side molding on the top but fixing this is pretty much like solving Rubik's cube. I am not sure if it is the top, or if the windows are going up too far. I noticed both windows go about 1/4 inch above the frame of the vent window (bottom photo) Thanks in advance. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks Tronicsworld. That may be the answer I was fearing the most since I was hoping to not get into the door glass position. As a newbie, taking off the door panel brings on all sorts of new questions and concerns.

Welcome! For the throttle issue, you might first make sure the throttle linkage isn't binding or getting snagged anywhere. You might then inspect the accelerator rod bushings, which can wear and play havoc with your WOT. Lots of threads on this. Here's a link to one: Accelerator Rod Bushing: How Do I Get To Them
