I could not find anything 297-9-3.

297 is not a standard 1979 color.

Hope this helps.

Gerry

The color is 297.

The 9 and the 3 are for the paint manufacturer and the facility where the car was painted.

Paintscratch.com only has 2 '79 colors listed, not yours.

Gerry,

thank you for the info.

I have some factory information to say the vehicle was painted a 'non-standard' colour, but no reference to its actual shade...

from your chart it appears all the greens start in the 200's, maybe the later numbers were reserved for unique or special order colours ?

does this theory work for a different colour ?

Maybe the car was re-painted with an updated color?

If it has a code, it's a Porsche color. My guess is that it was a color normally offered on another model (914, 924, 944, 928, etc.) I've looked through all the 911 codes and can't find it. You might try looking for codes for the other models.

2010 was Pastel Blue.

I Don't know where you'd find the codes on the web.

do you know what the '9' and '3' refer to in terms of manufacturer of paint and the facility ?

a pm just advised me that the paint is 'herberts' - thank you

A previous poster listed the glasurit database, and I see 'lindgruen met' is the closest number at '275' but no numbers listed higher than that

Not offhand, it's in a thread not too long ago, I'll try a search.

I've never seen a 911 of that vintage was was NOT 9 and 3. (Pretty sure the mfg is glasurit).

The 9 refers to Porsche as the paint facility, 8 refers to another facility that mostly did the RS cars.

1=Lesonal
2=Glasurit
3=Herberts

Answers:

Don't know...
Yes...
I agree. It would be more interesting in the original color and also worth more.
