Dash Access
I'm trying to install an ipod based accessory in the clock hole, the problem I'm facing is running a wire from the clock hole to just behind the center console. I stuck my hand in the hole, but can not find any type of access. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Best Regards Gil |

If you stuck your head in the clock hole, you have a small head!
![]() The access is really tough. You may have to remove the cover in the trunk and with another person fish wires to where you need them. Of course hooking a wire up back there is impossible. I have seen holes drilled with a long bit thru the cowl so that the back of the radio can be accessed. You may be able to remove the radio and use a big half circle fishing tool to pull a wire thru the clock hole to the radio. Lots of stuff under the radio on later cars. |

Yes, your going to have to go through the trunk, I routed wires through a hole I found up behind the glove box under the dash into the trunk and over to the tach for example.

You don't say what car you have but you may find a hole already punched in the firewall and plugged. Look in the area to the right side of the radio and slightly below. The usual plug is a translucent plastic one. The hole is behind the passenger side air distribution box in the trunk.

In which case, unless your car is heavily optioned, you should have the unused hole I described above.

I did it!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all for the help!!! The first part was easy (working with the back of the instrument cluster). There are a couple of holes to the right of the radio, I used a long skinny screwdriver some electrical tape, and a three foot piece of twine. I taped the twine to the screwdriver poked thru the hole, then I tied the twine to the wire, pulled on the twine, and wallah (I think thats how it's spelled).
Once again thanks to all for the help!!!!!!! Regards Gil |
