rotated instruments

Hi. What's up with some 911s being sold here which have rotated speedos, and some speedos and rpm meters? Does it mean they have been tracked and that's an easy way to watch the needels (horiz or vertical)...? Thanks.

Yes, some guys do it so that it's easier to see redline as vertical for racing purposes. In my case, the speedo is rotated so that I can actually see the important numbers over my after-market steering wheel.

With some steering wheels that are smaller diameter, you can't easily see the 60-90 mph range, so some rotate the speedo to the left.

Rotated the gauges for the exact same reasons.

I like 6000 rpm at TDC, and redline just a little over. It takes less of a eye drop to see (perceive ) it. It is just my preference. Some things take a little getting used to: Down blinker to go left, up blinker to go right.

Smaller aftermarket steering wheels block the 60-90 range. Rotating the gauge makes it easier to keep an eye on it.

Also, I rotated the oil gauge counter-clockwise for the same reason. Steering wheel blocked the oil temp.

Was the car tracked because the gauges were rotated? Ask the owner. Cars can be tracked regardless of the gauges.

Excuse me if you already know this, but you can easily rotate the gauges back, they're "pressure" fit into the dash with a rubber ring. So don't worry about that.

I like many others have done it for the same above reason as "Poor-sche Lover". I have made the change going back to the '70s on most if not all my Porsche. And now wouldn't have it stock, because I feel I have a better view of what is happening. I enclosed a current shot of my dash package. Easy to do, and easy to change back if you don't like it or sell the car.

Go for it!
