Engine gets sluggish when...

I know this was answered here a few weeks ago, but I could not find the thread. Yesterday, while checking/adding oil, my engine started to get sluggish as soon as I removed my oil filler cap. I have never had the slightest variance in engine performance and I have tried a 20 mile trip with the cap off. It wasn't even that cold here yesterday. I had driven her hard for about 20 miles, when I stopped on level ground, had it idling and removed the oil filler cap. It did not die, but it sounded like it wanted to. Then I added my oil, replaced the cap and ran her around the block again. Then all was fine.

Is this indicative of a problem? Thanks.

no its normal - probably be worse if you have any small intake leaks. as long as it doesn't stop all together, as it makes checking the level a bit difficult!!

Not sure which thread you saw but RarlyL8 discusses it somewhat here:

The 912 engine would run TERRIBLE without a proper oil cap seal. Might be similar. Weird, eh?
