Help! Engine lid does not open!!
My engine lid won't open!!!!
I pull the engine lid latch handle and do feel very solid tension. However, the lid will not pop open. Are there any 'emergency' manual way to open --- a la manually cranking the sunroof to open/close? Much thanks in advance!!!! |

Have some one pull up on it while you pull the cable. If the cable is broken the lid should pop up.

As is usually posted, drive on an unlevel surface flexing the car while pulling the cable. One wheel up a curb or something like that. Go both ways.
Then take time to find out how to adjust the plunger. |

Thanks for quick reply!!! I will try that tonight.
If cable is broken, I suspect PP will carry that part --- what's involved to replace it??? Massive removal of interior trim? Quote:

I think you slide it through a metal tube that is welded in place that terminates at the latch.

Tube runs through LH rear wheel well - along the top but on the inside of fender. You can see it come out of the back of the door post panel.

Yes --- where the latch handle is located.
Any idea if new cable s/b 'threaded' starting from the latcg handle, or from the engine cimpartment side? Thanks to all for your knowledge! Quote:

Plastic "T" handle fixed to a wire that is connected by a set screw to a barrel at the latch.

If you change the cable...remember to grease the heck out of it as you push it into the tube.
