Post Final decision on wheel/tire upgrade

OK guys. I have decided to go for the 16x6 refurbed Fuchs from Wheel enhancement for my 74 non-flared 911. I also think it will be the 205/55X16 Kumhos for rubber. I place the order with wifey permission Monday. Does anybody have any last minute comments or advice for me? It's a big decision that I don't want to screw up. Please post your thoughts. Does this package sound good?
Thanks, and goodbye cookies.

I am very sorry if I might offend someone now, BUT I have never heard anything good about Kumho. As I understand Kumho is a low price product meant for cheap everyday cars.

A Porsche deserves better, or am I completly wrong?

Gee I thought I was hearing good things about the tires. Am I all wet? If they stink, then I won't get 'em. That's why I posted this question. Thanks and keep the comments coming.

i just bought yokohama avs intermediates and like them. when i was getting them mounted, the guy at the shop said he had heard good things about kumhos.

but, i figured the yokos were basically the same price at www.tirerack.com and had more credibility with me. they were recommended by members of this board.

also, the kumhos were the cheapest offering in my size. something tells me that the cheapest is not the best.

I don't have any personal experience with Kumho's, but FWIW I was at the Parade in Milwaukee this week. Lots of autocrossers running Kumho VictoRacers, including several class FTD winners. The VR is basically a DOT legal competition tire and may be a little radical for daily street use. However, based on the performance of those tires, if nothing else, I don't think that I would exclude the brand's other lines from consideration. You may want to talk to the guys at Tire Rack, www.tirerack.com, who,in my experience, usually provide fairly objective opinions/information.

Hi,
I dont know what kumhos you were planning to buy, but I have heard nothing but good things about the victor racing tire. I know several people in the POC who use them and they are very happy with them. They all say that they get alot more track time with them
before they wear out but with obviously a little sacrifice in overall grip.

I have not personally used them but based on the recommendations and results from others who have, I am seriously considering buying a set. Good Luck

Here's the deal. I dumped the Kumhos and now I'm going for the Bridgestone 730's on 6x16" wheels all the way around. No rubbing, good handling in the wet and dry and no crying by the owner.

Good call! I run RE730s on my p-car, too, and have been pretty happy with them. Haven't had a chance to run them in the rain, yet, and I'm anxious to see if they live up to their reputation.

I have the RE-730s too. I had Yoko AVS intermediates. The intermediates seemed much better, however, I don't think I have broken in the 730s yet. The 730s seem really "cushy" and soft.

The Kuhmo victoracers are the preferred cost/performers for the track. There is another Kuhmo that is for the street with great wear characters similiar to the RE-730s.

Just some thoughts...

It's probably too late, but why are you paying Wheel Enhancement prices? If you're going to compete in Concours events, I can see it, but there are much more economical ways to get a nice set of Fuchs.

I think the RE-730 choice is sound, though.
