Engine started after small shift on timing, oil pressure stayed low so didn't run for long. Sounded prettty good with exhaust combo, had a small vaccum leak, fuel leak and oil leak that were easily sorted... fingers crossed nothing on the floor when I get there tomorrow :)

Will connect a manual presure guage tomorrow to be confident of pressure then can set timing and give it more of a run up.

Big step forward and very happy that it ran.!!

Awesome build, congrats on the great progress!

A bit of progress over the past month.
Oil pressure issue sorted with the help of a mechanical guage to confirm pressure.
Rear Bumper and brackets fitted with rubber.
Rear Lights fitted.
Front Trunk pretty much completed just a couple of electrical items to be checked and completed.

Dropped it off to the Upholster yesterday to fit the Hood lining, pillar covers, re-trim rear seats, Dash, sunvisors and trim panels while I'm away.

Once back I can finish off the last few electrical items, get Front and Rear Glass installed, install carpets, seats, belts and the list goes on :)

Upholstery update

Collected the car from the upholstery shop, Mark has done a great job as always!

Job got bigger as they tend to do once realising how many trim/panel pieces I was missing. Had to make some custom pieces for rear side panels.
Decided to go Full Leather everywhere as opposed to vinyl and carpeting some areas.

Front & Rear Windows done

Over the past two weekends I have managed to get the Front & Rear windows installed.

Certainly not a simple task with New Chromes and Rubbers, pretty sure I was using genuine rubbers as part of a rubber kit, the front was the biggest issue.

I feel your pain with the windows. They look great though.

Jeff.

Rear quarter windows

Received the glass to frame seals today.
Assembled both windows ready for install over next few days, went together relativley easy, bit of silcone rubber grease and a good tool and worked out ok.
Just hope I have the metal pieces around the correct way for the hinge post.....

First time I've seen this - fantastic work and love the color and chrome trim!

brentrussell 08-05-2017 11:04 PM

Sorry bit slack with photo's this time.
Seat brackets back from powder coaters, and fitted to seats.
Front seats installed also New Front seat belts fitted.
Now that its back on the ground I needed to even up some ride heights or close too before I go get my wheel alignment, Left rear caused me some pain, had to re-index it about four times to get it right, for one reason or another I just wasn't getting the right angle. Finally it's good.
Fronts are easy and got that done although I think I will re-index those a little tomorrow to put them in the middle of the adjustment just in case we need to adjust them as it's maxed out at the low point.
My exchanged WUR arrived, have installed that which seems good but has pointed to a vacuum leak, finally pieced a vacuum pump test arrangement together and found a leak at pop off valve, have glues that up with JB weld so hopefully that sorts it and no other ones appear!

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502002789.jpg

This week will hopefully resolve my vacuum leak/leaks, should be able to borrow the Fuel pressure test kit later in the week then fingers crossed it will stay running so I can get it in for Wheel alignment and fine tune my height and rake.

Progress is being made!

Amazing piece of work..........

Brent,

I have not seen this thread until today. You have done a tremendous job preparing the chassis and did it well. The problem you are having now with your CIS is nothing you could not fix yourself. Looking forward to see this car on the road very soon. You are an inspiration. Good job. Thanks for sharing.

Tony

Resolved my suspension issues, finally! Heading off to Wheel alignment tonight, will report spec's when done... all going well :)

Engine was running yesterday eventually, no power under load and bit of Black oil coming from exhaust but not smokey at all so need to work out this issue... thoughts so far.
Oil over fill
Engine been sitting for 10 years and only been started and mucked around with for last 2 months... needs a blow out?
Too higher system pressure on Fuel Distriutor? running 73 PSI
CO Level out... done the basic tests and seems maybe lean if anything... warm pressure on vacuum now at 49 PSI

Will conitune looking into those things plus more.

Regards

Brent

Bit of a non event for the wheel alignment as I need to set it within factory spec's as part of the certification and import compliance reg's.

brentrussell 10-16-2017 12:32 AM

99% Finished....

The journey is complete, last Friday it passed it's final compliance and I am registered!!! LVV cert passed after some changes.

81 3.0SC Euro 204 BHP engine
915 Transmission
Transformed from a bare shell to finish in 7 years :), every part restored, enhanced or replaced, not for the purist probably but its what I have always wanted...
Only with the help of some talented people along the way...
Alex Ward of Pegasus Restorations for ALL the panel/ sheet metal work.
Stefan Quartly/ Performance Panel and Paint for the Paint job.
Mark Sinclair of MS Upholstery for upholstery work.
Glyn Jones Porsche expert! my go to guy to get the answers of what I have done wrong and how to fix.
Braid Wheels NZ, 17x9.5/11 custom spec wheel offsets
Tony (boyt911sc) many of you will know of him... CIS legend, worked with me off and on for a month or more to get this engine running near perfect! 100+ emails bounced across the globe.
Soooo many others on Pelican etc and around NZ/ world for there parts, advice and details they have shared on forums etc Couldn't have done it without!
Really happy how it's come out, did a mission to Timaru for the day Saturday and it performed beautifully, have put a quick 400 miles on it now and all is well. Some small things to finish off that I want to sort, plus add decals in coming weeks.

Will I do another full build/ restoration... NO :)
