made my own bell-end velocity stacks

well, didn't exactly make them but joined two. I wanted a bell/eliptical throat on my velocity stacks. didn't easily find ready-made ones so I made my own. used some metal short horns, cut them off at about 3/8 inches. then used some horns I bought on ebay. they're for a hilborn injection I think. the ID of the horns was almost exactly the OD of the cut-off horn. I heated the aluminum upper with a torch and it was a tight fit over the base. don't need to glue it, it's not coming off without a lot of heat. ta-daa. and they'll fit nicely under the stock air cleaner I want to use. Don.

Don,
That is sweet. Great idea. You've got to love those Hillborn stacks. Is this headed for the 67? Let's see some install shots.

Regards,

Al

thanks Al. yeah, they're for the '67. any thoughts on this?

how much horsepower will a stock early air cleaner support?

also, your bits are on the way, I was a little slow getting them out. you should see them by the end of the week. Don.

Don,
Check out these runner length calculators. Very interesting.

installed. I had to cut them down about 1/4 inch, and JB welded the join. I could get the housing on as they were, but it was a chore. easy now.

thanks for those links Al. according to one of them I need a 21 inch intake runner. where the h*ll am I going to fit six of those?!
seriously, some good info. it looks like I'm pretty much right on the money with my set-up.

does anyone know which gives more torque, longer intake runner length below the carb butterflies, or above. I've got some aluminum EFI injector blocks coming. I'm going to experiment with putting a 'spacer' under the intake manifold.
