I've read mucho on this site regarding resolving issues related to Tach problems.
But, could a grand poobah iterate how and where to wire a 'hop' from the coil direct to the Tach to see if it is really working? Yo! |

Well, a model year for the car and type number for the engine would be useful if you want any specific info.

OK, for '72 thru '77 models with the breaker-point triggered 3-pin CDI-unit, the tach isn't connected to the coil, and I hope yours isn't connected there, now, beause it may have been toasted by the 460 Volt output pulses of the CDI-unit!
The tach lead is connected to the points at the same terminal on the side of the distributor as the trigger lead from the CDI-unit.
