Porsche Crest I came across a pleasant thing today......

I am getting ready to remove the front calipers and reseal them, along with new pads all round, braided lines and new brake switches and ATE Blue.

I was prepping the caliper area so that when I do get round to doing it, the calipers will be somewhat cleaner than they are now.

Although I am not ecstatic about the cleaning of the calipers, I happened to overspray some Purple Power Citrus on the bulkhead and went to wipe it off......WOW....and so I carried on a little more.

I'll be doing some more of this on the driver side and the rear wells when I finish the passenger side.

By the way, what do YOU use to clean the calipers up?

is it safe to use brake cleaner while the calipers are still on the car?

Yes. No problem. It is just really good at cleaning brake dust, grease etc. It also works really well on grease on clothes.

Man, I envy you. Yours are coming out nicely. I have wasted two cans of brake cleaner and I used a wire brush on them for at least one hour on each caliper and they don't look half as clean as yours, and my car is two years younger. D%$n it.

Mind explaining why?

I had similar results using Brake Cleaner on mine. Good stuff but try not to breath in a whole lot of it. Not so good for cleaning your lungs.
