Oil Tank Filter
What do you guys use for your oil tank filter? I have watersheilds on and do not want to run that breather into them. I was thinking about finding a K&N of some kind to just slip over the tube. I would love to see some photos are to know what you guys would do.

It is the breather tube comming out of the tank I was thinking about just attaching some kind of K&N too.

If you're not going to run the breather to the intake, consider a puke box and a breather filter on top of that.

There are two lines coming out of the top of the tank. One goes to the engine and the other one goes to the air cleaner. I am talking about the one that goes to the air cleaner. What is a puke box?

![]() Solids stay in the box instead of your engine bay. Oil mist will be an issue when the filter is soaked.

search on oil + vapor to get some threads
someone laid out the requirements (Sherwood?) - you want a slight up angle to the vapor hose and a nice big opening for the vapor to go into the bottle; also a drain valve and hose at the bottom & clear bottle to see the level in it are nice I have not seen a correctly constructed commercial vapor bottle. P AG used a windshield washer box on some old race cars. |

Known as Oil catch cans, fairly common if you search Google but make sure you get the type you want and many times you get what you pay for but there are also many overpriced ones out there. A real must on Turbo cars as they tend to get more crankcase blow-by. The ub-burnt or partially burnt gases have the effect of lowering your octane when mixed with the intake charge so they are not good. Some cans as the ones pictured above vent through the filter to the atmosphere, the oil in the residue will mostly condense and fall to the bottom of the can (many of the better filters have a wire type brillow pad inside to give the oily gases more surface to condense on). Other cans have a line in and a line out so you plum it inline of the stock breather hose (a must for emmisions tested cars and for most Turbo cars as under boost, the gases & intake charged may escape from the filter unless plumbed with a one way valve, depending on application). So the inline ones do let some of the oily gases back to the intake but catch much of the oil which also keeps the intake track from building up oil in it (filter housing, manifold, intake ports, turbo & intercoolers).

Catch can? A filter works for me.
