upgrade to a cone filter......

would upgrading to a cone style K&N be an improvement over the factory airbox on my 85' 3.2?
also does it add any tone to the engine as they do on other cars?
and finally if there is an adapter that is need (or kit) where can i find one? i search pelican but could not seem to find anything other than stock replacement filters.

thanks

No, no gain whatsoever. Possible loss.

People have dynoed 3.2's with the stock air filter in place and then removed it and re-dynoed - for a <1hp gain.

Protect your engine. Trust in Porsche.

I have a K&N cone filter. I had hoped for an improvement in engine sound, but actually there isn't any - except when you push the pedal as far as it goes. In that case it's pretty nice, deep and aggresive. Anyway I don't think it's worth the money. At least not for sound or hp gains. HP is probably the same as with the stock airfilter.

One advantage though is much more room in the engine compartment.

Ditto, on Mikkel's comment.

SPACE to work. And SPACE to see.
