Less brakes, more gas!

Too many wheels... not enough space!
So my '2' car garage is really only a 2 car garage if all you do is park cars in it. However, I like to actually store stuff in the garage... I know, weird, hunh? so I have a 1 car garage + storage area.
When working on the 911 its always a task to clean up the garage and move a ton of crap around so I have a little space to do what needs to be done. This got rather complicated recently with my total susp. refresh + bumper replace project. I pulled the drive train and put it in my now clear spot leaving me virtually no room to work on the car. You see, I have 2 set of wheels/tires + a couple of others hanging around. They don't move around easy and are kinda a PITA. They don't easily fit on a shelf either! My low ceiling does not lend itself easily to a tire rack. I live in Florida so kiss the basement goodbye  I was down at my wheel guy's place (Bellow Motorsport) and he had these cool wheel dollys that some customer made for him. So I copied them:  I got a 24"x24" 3/8" scrap plywood (cut to 24" circle) from Lowes for $0.50. A 1x1x36" (cut as 'X' and screw to circle) scrap for $1.00 and a mini dolly from Harbor Freight for 9.99 (strip casters off). Buying the mini dolly was cheaper than buying individual casters by about $8 and you get scrap wood, carpet, and hardware (HW). I used scrap HW out of the HW jar + HW that came on the dolly. So for <$12 I now have a groovy wheel storage/moving item. If you find thicker plywood you don't need the 1x1, but I like it as it keeps the rim off the HW and thus from errant scratching. Here is the 2nd one I built with the mini dolly remnants which will be used as needed.  Enjoy! -Michael

Tried that... but it was very unstable especially w/ the mini dolly. If I bought the bigger dolly it might have worked, but you will still be narrow in 1 dimension. This way I am supported at the edge on all 4 casters and the stack is as stable as if it were on the concrete. Of course, I have lost the flexibility of the dolly to some extent.

Make it a little bigger, notch it so a jack can be slid into it, and use it to support the engine when removed as well as store extra tires.
