Codes
On the inside left hand door pillar (1983 SC RoW) there are three labels with the following numbers/codes which I don't understand. Can anyone help decipher them please.
E1 E1-0008 1Z-R0001/1 14R-0055 14R-0056 18R 01 0001 E2 17R-74002 E2-10R 911SC-(SP)79042 NTA PRIMARY MAC No 043B01 Many thanks, Ashley New Zealand |

That is rather strange, please post photos to help identify the labels.

A search on "NTA PRIMARY MAC" came up with this hit:
VIN DECODE HELP>>>>>>>. - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum Since that came on a Benz I'm pretty sure it is not Porsche specific, but it may be country specific. The Benz was UK delivery. Yours? What is the history of the car?

Pretty sure the NTA means "National Type Approval".
Has to do with the car's homologation. Most probably, your car spent some time of it's life in Europe (UK??). In any case, E1 and E2 are European homologation directives. Will take a look at mine when I get home in a few hours. Google WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval), quite surely you will find some answers. Mike |

Andy in the UK on the DDK Board says:
NTA PRIMARY MAC = National Type Approval Primary Minister's Approval Certificate The certificate would probably have been required to verify that certain components (eg headlamps, seatbelts, foglights, indicators, etc) met the required standards of the country the car was imported into. Maybe an SC that was originally supplied to a country outside of the EU which was then re-imported back into the EU ? ------------- So as Mike explains, the E1 & E2 codes would specify the specific standards and how they are met.
