David,
Good points.
As it was explained to me (and I agree):Its not so much that the RB legs will poke through, as it is,that if the pan gives only,say,1 to 2 inches(My car had a bit of rust in this area as well)
it will severly limit available headroom .
When planing my bar I realized Im about an inch from the roof,so retaining headroom seemed important.Couple that with the fact that the harnesses are mounted to the bar, compression injuries or worse, slipping out of the belts because
the RB has moved are something Id rather not ponder.
I know racing is not exactly the safest hobby,
But I every time I put on a new zoomey part or lighten the car or any mods to go faster(even as I get faster as a driver)I try to address a safety issue right along with it.
My safety wish list:

Better helmet (lighter CF)
Full cage extension (w/ door bars)
Fire system(for me and the car)
Hoping for a cheaper HANS device

Hey guys whats on you safety wish list???

Thomas

I have the Safety Devices roll bar, in the original factory RS style (although the diameter is larger, to meet current regs). It sits further back than the ones pictured -- much less like a hammer sitting near your head.

Unfortunately, no pictures.

resurrecting this thread. anyone have any photos of current half roll cages that bolt in?

Looking to add one to the build list for my motor swapped 87 coupe. Ideally one that still provides head clearance, at about 6'1

Why bolt in?

weld in wil be lighter , take up less space, stiffen the car more and fit better

Valid points.

Open to options. By the time the cars fully running I will be able to take it to a fabricator for weld in.

Also interested as I'm looking at doing this as a winter project. More expensive to have one built locally or spend about 1k with shipping costs ordering one online?
