73 E no spark

I broke the two brown wires on the the ignition switch / steering lock stalk. These are separate from the ignition switch but connect to the stalk (metal thing the ignition switch goes into). Now I have no spark.

What do the two brown wires do?

I have power to red wire to the Petronics breakerless ignition and the black wire is connected. The black wire disappears into a bundle of wires. Where does it come out / connect to (ground?).

Thoughts / suggestions appreciated

Thanks,

Chris

Have you replaced any ignition parts? Is the Petronics new?

The last time it ran (about a week ago) the ignition switch broke and the only way I could think to turn the car off was to disconnect the batteries.

I replaced the ignition switch with the more expensive OEM version but now no spark. Should I have not killed the engine by disconnecting the batteries?

No battery could damage the CD unit. I would check it makes a whine.
