Identification help

First of all Merry Christmas to all and a wish for a healthy 2011 to everyone and
there familys.
Been lurking in the shadows of this forum for a while now but never introduced
myself yet,I have posted a couple pictures of my car in the past and will post again
shortly. Its a 1973 911t with a 2.4 with zenith 40 tin carbs.
I purchased it a couple years ago and to date have not driven it yet, so far it's just
a project to tinker with.
Looking for a little help to see if it is original.
Chassisis #9113501461
Engine ser#6531040 Type 911/57
trans. # 7108388 type 900/01
Seems to be a mix between 1973 and 1972.
Any idea what colour should be by these numbers it is white now but I think it
was possibly yellow.
Will post pictures.
Thanks for any help in advance
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike

The Red book list the Chassis # as a 73 911T with Carburetor and the Engine is also 73 according to Waynes book.

As for the Transmission model (900/01) I could not find that number anywhere (even Google). Maybe Peter Z will know.

As for the color, see if you can find the Color sticker in the luggage compartment.

Why do you think its a mix of 72 & 73?

Thanks for the reply jj911sc sorry that was a type-o the trans. is 911/01
which I guess is a 901 and I thought a 1973 should have a 915 tranny.
As for the 1972/73 question when I look in patrick Paternies red book
the engine ser# is correct for a 1973 but shows the type to be 911/59
and mine is a type 911/57 which would be correct for a 1972 ser#.
The only plate in my luggage compartment is the 9113501461 plate.
Thanks
MIKE

Tranny is a 1970 version.
Look for the paint code badge on the drivers door hinge post. Tell me exactly what is stamped on the badge.

Engine type 911/57 is also correct for 1973 T coupes vin#911350001-911350185 and engine #6530001-6533239. The source I used doesn't list a type 911/59 for any year so either the source is incomplete or there is a typo somewhere--both are possible.

Just to clarify your post, when you mention the "plate" in the luggage compartment, are you referring to the vin stamped into the sheet metal just in front of the smugglers box, or the aluminum plate riveted to the front latch panel?

Mike

In Wayne's How To Rebuilt and Modify PORSCHE 911 Engines 1965-1989 book, on page 201, the 911/57 with Ser # starting at 6530001 is listed as 1973.

The chassis & engine #s is for a RoW car.

As for the 5 speeds 911/01 Transmission it was fitted in 71 911T

You might find the Paint Code Sticker on the wall under the carpet (maybe not after reading djpateman post).

If you are in Ottawa, I got an extra (never read) copy of Wayne's book going on sale for $20.

Must be a typo... It's not in Bruce Anderson book either.

Thanks for the reply's guys.
DJpateman-Thanks the tranny must have been changed at one time I guess.
There are no alum badges on the door frames they must have been
removed by the po.

Ossiblue- Yes I got that number from the plate just ahead of the smugglers box
and there is no other plate riveted to the latch panel.

JJ911sc- Engine type in the PORCHE 911 RED BOOK 1965-2005 third edition must
be a typo I double checked and it reads
engine#6530001-6533239 (911/59).
I would also be interested in the book could you please contact me
at mftss@hotmail.com
And thanks again guys for your help I just was not sure if you could find the paint
code with the models and ser#s
I"ll continue searching for the alum plates.
Thanks
Mike
