High Beam Low Beam - Turn Signal

I haven't much at night in my Porsche since I got it but tonight I noticed that my high beams are on all the time, except when my turn signal is on.

When I put the turn signal on the lights dim. Turn signal off, High Beam.

When I click the high low switch in goes to low if I hold it in position.

I presume this means the switch is bad. Is it worth trying to repair or is is just a replacement item.

+1 turn signal switch.

Headlight relays should be next upgrade so you don't have to replace it again.

You don't *need* a new switch. A lot of the time, you can fix the old one. I fixed mine a number of years ago and no problem since. I have since also added the relays.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the fix first.

Won't get to it until spring. But probably won't drive much at night due to the pending winter weather.

Thanks.

Check your fuse box for a spare (empty) slot for the Marcus Sucro or similar upgrade - a relay for your hi/lo. A must have. The stalk switch can be repaired - be sure to lube with non-conductive grease (i.e. not dielectric).

No doubt, integrate the relay mods into your exercise.......switch? Fix or replace.

When i did miine, it is pretty stright forward.

Remove steering wheel;

Remove clam shell;

Note how the wires are routed;

Remove old switch assembly but leave wires attached;

Remove the wire bundles that go to the sockets in the fire wall, route the new wire along the same path, and plug in new wires;

For the wires going to the ignition switch, they are individually attached to the switch. I removed them one at a time and replaced it with the new wire before removing the next wire;

Replace Clam Shell;

Replace Steering wheel;

Install relays.
