Targa top Tech

As we get ready to end 2010 I thought I would review an number of key topics for us Targa owners.
1. When restoring a Targa top one must perform all three stages.
2. The incorrect seal is still being sold to 70-89 Targa owners by the dealer and aftermarket companies. This leads to wind noise, broken latches, and top fly offs. TI have the correct seal.
3. Hook style latches need to be lubricated, so that the safety hook works properly.
4. Vinylx is the proper conditioner for Targa top Vinyl.
5. A wide black Magic Marker can be used to darken the B pillar over the roll bar seal.
6. email or call with concerns or questions.

Once the Targa was the most sought after and desirable model in the Porsche lineup. Only we can restore it to it's proper place. c609 351 2068

I just bought this 1983, 911SC. It is in rough shape, but I really like this vintage and I believe I got it for a fair price. I want to redo the Targa seals. Who is TI?

Also my windows don't close correctly as shown in the pictures

Targa top seals

1. Front seal installation is some what easy. Seal needs to be installed wet so that it slides all the way in the groove.
2. The front is the seal that has been out production since 1995 and I recently had it reproduced and have a dozen or so left.
3. I have a 22 step guide to installing that seal.
4. The rear seal is difficult to get all the way seated in the grove and when not done so pushes the window out.
5. Also side seal may be adjusted incorrectly or even door adjust out to far.
6. You must really examine car for side to side and other Targa's to see what is correct. Over the years there have been a lot of armatures fooling with these cars.
7. I remember when these cars were new and they sealed pretty darn good. They didn't have wind noise or water leaks
