Show me your TRE airdam/valance

Looking to see if anyone has the H-16 airdam. If you do, or have pictures of one mounted I would appreciate any angles that can be shown!

Thanks Brian

No clue what an H-16 is, but this came from TRE and required very slight metal pulling to fit perfect:

I would shoot a finished product, but the car is currently facing the other way in the garage and on stands... Very easy to mount and looks good with the rubber smile in place w/ factory headlight squirters too.

The H16 is the one with the nose that is a bit longer than the standard. Basically not really interested in the fit, I understand TRE to be one of the better fitting FG pieces on the market, more interested in the ascetics. With that said..... I would like to hear about the fit, maybe I'll grab a beer too.... How much metal moving are we talking???

Tia.

I wish they would answer email more frequently. Same with M.A Shaw.

I'm looking for RSR bumpers and couple of early lids.

The front fenders were about 1/2" in on both sides so I just had to pull on each one bit by bit until the metal widened to meet the FG. I could have flexed the FG in to meet the fenders, but that is not advised as it puts stress on the FG causing cracks/etc. *shrug* took about 10 minutes a side MAX as I did not want to go over Still needs some sanding to get that perfect mate and edge, but that's easy now.

The rear was worse, but that was a local product and not TRE based.

I've got the same piece, and the same problem with the car up on stands. But I'll second that it's a well built part and fits well.... with one exception- the extensions for the brake ducts are far too short to be able attach brake duct hoses. But Dave told me that in advance so I knew that going in. Had to do some 'glass work to make the ducts long enough to slip my hose over it and hose-clamp in place. But I guess I'd rather do that than have to monkey with an ill fitting part.

Finished but without the oil cooler installed; that's next. Very nice piece.

lindy! very nice!

Brake ducts were short! I cut down a 3" into 2" PVC pipe and glued it on the end of the duct. Hose clamps on FG tend to get over tightened and break the FG. you could crank all day on this PVC with no damage.

Then 2" shop vac hose fits right in the PVC. The shop vac hose slides over the A-Arm ducts and then use steel ribbed hose from the a-arm to the brake rotor duct where its hot. Looks great! Not tested yet, but I have confidence it will be fine.

This is a TRE RSR/IROC front bumper. It fit perfectly with no mods needed.

Thanks to all for the pix, I love the finished look! Does anyone have a side shot? I would really like to see what the overall extension really looks like from the side profile. Thanks again

Entering front straight at Mid-Ohio

Here is a side shot. My experience was similar to what others have reported -- great product, fits well, short brake duct extensions. The lip has also worn very well while being subjected to much abuse. Although not obvious from this shot where I have some pretty serious weight transfer going on to the right side, the front lip gets scraped a LOT, particularly on the street going to/from the track. I will need to reinforce it soon as it has nearly worn through in some places, but I have been very impressed at its longevity and strength.

For those considering this bumper and feel the need to put the "smile" between the bumper and hood & fenders, i'd recommend the use of the 964 smile. I think the original 911 smile is just too big. 964 smile is much thinner and looks better.

I have one of these bumpers "on the shelf" from my switching of cars- retiring the '87 from track duty, replaced by racecar. Front fitment was great. Very sturdy, well built piece.

For the brake ducts, instead of grafting-in a piece of something to connect the typical 2-1/2 in. hose, I bought a 3 in. to 2 in. rubber plumbing coupler. The 3 in. end slipped nicely over the brake cooling port on the bumper. The 2 in. end was sliced with a razor to be able to slip the hose inside of the coupler. Works really good. Check out the pics in this thread

AJ brake duct hose size

What I also learned is that it's a good idea to let the hose move freely vs. tying it down with zip strips like I show in my pictures. You can see I had to repair my hose with a bunch of crappy looking duct tape. When I handed off my hose setup to a friend to use, he didn't secure anything and the free movement of the hose and A-arm tubes keeps the hose from being damaged by suspension travel. Go figure......

Ed,

Had I known you were looking for one of these, I would have sold you mine, all fitted and trimmed to bolt right up to your '86!

Mike, you needed a pic to remind yourself what your car looks like these days? Soon the house project will be done and you can bring it home.

Seriously, it was the fit and look of this nose on Mike's car that pushed me over the edge to get rid of my Yellowbird nose and replace with this part from TRE.

Ed -- that is much closer to the truth than I would like!

KTL -- you are absolutely correct about the 964 smile. I went that way at the suggestion of Dave (TRE) and really like the look and fit of the 964 smile.

In an attempt to show the 964 smile (sort of) or perhaps to remind myself again what my car looks like, I am attaching another photo from a different vantage point. Ed -- I think you might recognize the passenger...

Looks like Mark White? It's rare that he'll right seat with people, definitely a trust factor there. I'll see him this week when I deliver my open trailer to him up at Accumoto.

That would be correct -- I thought you would recognize the helmet. Give Mark my greetings when you drop your trailer off!

Easy to spot that helmet. And I love the way you and he are looking through the turn. Can't tell where that is... Madness?
