I think I found a solution for the fast hunt I get every morning when I first start which goes on for about an annoying min. or two after which it settles down to a nice steady idle for the rest of the day.
I tried installing a restriction on the hose going into the idle air conrol valve and so far it hasn't hunted at all in two days since I did this. I was wondering if this was the same problem that was described in this earlier post: http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/Forum3/HTML/007647.html Regards, Joe Garcia 86 Carrera |

See if it helps long term. Problems with mine before which were actually related to having a problematic air flow meter were corrected briefly by disconnected the idle valve and other stuff. However, they were only fixed by replacing the air flow meter (I replaced the idle control valve first as well, but did not help).
I guess it's possible if your valve is broken and in some kind of limp mode where it's just open, restricting the flow might compensate, but when weather conditions change, the DME may not be able to properly react...but I don't know. ------------------ Kurt B 1984 Carrera Cabriolet 911 Page carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com |
