Need help for Hall signal problem

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my 1989 964, it is showing fault code 34 which is the Hall signal, so according to the service manual I've check the wire to DME pin 30, 8, 31 and it is giving proper voltage and ground so i went ahead and replace the distributor, it solved the problem for only 10 minutes and the check engine came back on again, my concern is can a bad spark plug wire, distributor cap & rotor trigger the fault code? or is there any other stuff i need to go over? please help me out.

Thanks
Albert
