964 jacking point

Hello- The jacking point on my 1990 c2 driver side front is missing. I am the 4th or 5th owner of the car, and have not had much luck contacting the po, so I do not know how or why it is gone. DC automotive has them, and they said to weld it back on. Has anyone ever done this? It sounds like a good way to set yourself on fire doing it from underneath. Thanks for any help or ideas.

Rattlesnak- Did you use a mig welder? How did you prep the surfaces? Did you do any post welding repair to the paint and rustproofing in the vicinity? If so -what products did you use? A friend has a spot welder that may be able to reach, and it will probably do way less damage to the coatings in the vicinity-what do you think of a spot weld repair as compared to a mig? Sorry for all the questions, but if you have been through all this before and we get your answers up on this board-it will certainly benefit others too. Many thanks.
