Engine and G50 drop - special instructions?

I have read the tech articale for engine and gearbox drop here on Pelican's tech info pages. It references the 915 gearbox and shows how to disconnect it from the car. Are there any special instructions for the G50? Any special tools / problems I should be aware of before I get to this weekend?

Thanks in advance

Engine Drop

You should really get the Bentley, I found it "MUCH" more specifically useful for my year 87 which I pulled in mid. dec.. Several steps are not mentioned in Wayne's book as he's looking at a much wider group of years. The G50 just comes right off and is discussed specifically in Bentley. Having both books gives you multiple discussions, and Wayne offers opinions while Bentley is straight tech.

Leave the clutch slave attached to the line and disconnect it at the bellhousing. Tie it up to relieve strain on the line. Other than that, pretty much the same.

Tip that some people overlook. The M8 (13mm hex) on the shift shaft coupler must be removed completely. The shift shaft is a thru-hole, so the bolt has to come completely out and not just be loosened.

Also, don't remove the rubber boot from the transmission end. From inside the car via the tunnel inspection plate, push the boot outward towards the trans (boot remains attached to the trans).

For any drop, not just the G50, don't let the axles hang. You'll tear the CV boots if they're really old.
