As far as I know, these heat exchangers were on the U.S. thermal reactor cars from 1975 - 1977. The inward flanges bolted to the thermal reactor cans, which in turn had three upward-facing flanges that connected to the cylinder heads. To replace the thermal reactors, there also existed three-into-one pipes that could be swapped in, however; I wouldn't call them "headers" as they only served as exhaust plumbing with unequal-length runners.

The only function those have is as a heat exchanger, only one pipe runs through each side. The least performance oriented design Porsche ever came up with. Are you doing a restoration that requires these exchangers?

i have the full set + nickel replacement tubes stored
the thermal reactors are almost brand new any used set of HE will have oil stains. A radiator shop can soak them clean most replacement tubes were not nickel afai know i'll sell the set for $5,000 or trade for a running 3.2

I live in norway and it isn't to hot up here, so these exchangers does the job.
The pair i have are rusty , so i am looking for a clean set like the once in the picture. They have been posted here for sale some time ago. Regards Řistein

Řistein,
While replacing your rusty heat exchangers with these will improve your heat, there is a better way. The ‘early’ heat exchanger / headers from 1974 and earlier will fit your engine and muffler. These will also put out significantly more heat. As an added benefit, these will also improve performance and let your engine run cooler in the summer. The SSI exhaust are stainless steel and will be far less susceptible to rust. These are available from our host. Do you have a 5-blade fan? If so, converting to the 11-blade fan turning 1.82:1 of the crankshaft will push more heat into the cockpit. Again, this will also help summer cooling of the engine and improve A/C function (if you have A/C). Best, Grady
