1982 SC Option Code M476

I just purchased a 1982 911 SC today. My first 911. When I ran my VIN through Auto Atlanta's VIN decoder it says my car has the M476 option code which is Porsche Stability Management. Could some kind person explain to me what this really is and what it does on my car. I know what PSM does on the C4's what does it do on the 2 wheel drive cars. Thank you for your help.

RON

Within Bruce Anderson's various publication dates of his book.... he shows a comprehensive list of "MXXX" option codes....and M476 shows up as "brake pad with abrasive pad". Odd description. There are other M-specs that speak to non-asbestos pads, etc, but this is stated only as indicated.

At first blush, it appears that Porsche may be re-using some numbers for the later cars that would not make sense in the context of the older cars ( ex: 476 shows up 2X, once as a brake pad and once as stability management system).

Thanks for the fast response. That make sense. I did not think PSM would be on an 82. I read that PSM first appeared on the first C4's. What a great resource this board is.
