Wiper Motor done?

I've had the car for a couple of months, and the wipers never returned to the parked position and the intermittant switch didn't work either (classic motor issue according to the forum). Last time I used the wipers, they completed 1/2 a swipe and stoppped in the middle of the windshield. I'm figuring the motor died and it's not a switch problem. Agreed?

Multimeter testing should narrow it down...

Most likely it's the stalk switches. try pushing forward on the stalk with the wipers off and the intermittent switch on. If they sweep or park, than it's somewhere in the stalk switch. You can adjust the contacts in the steering column or get a new switch. If this does not fix the problem, check out the motor with a 12V power source to see if it is working. Best to remove it to the bench. You can rebuild that motor or have someone do that.

+1 with Mr. Brown....search for the thread on repairing your wiper stalk, it's a common problem and has been discussed hundreds of times. If necessary, move next to cleaning your intermittent switch with a healthy dose of electrical contact spray.

If these 2 procedures don't fix your problem, you'll need to remove a few things under your bonnet to gain access to the wiper motor (where you need to apply your multimeter skills).

Update: Replaced the wiper motor with a good used unit, all functions work fine.
