Good news for me at least, for now.
I changed the DME relay, checked the cap rotor, made sure none of the spark plugs wires were touching or even close to each other, checked the ground wires on the manifold, wiggled the oxygen sensor connection. Took it out for a test drive and viola she runs like a top. Of course the car had dried out a bit (24 hours in the carport) and it was not raining. She is a girl after all so all bets are off. Warner Open to help any way I can. |

Thanks for the update i did replace my O2 sensor a year ago I will check it out..do you think it was the DME relay? |
I am not sure. It could have been just drying out or some of my plug wires were touching after I changed the plugs.
I will keep you updated if she acts up again. I am gonna try to find someone local to run her up on a lift to check grounds. Warner |

I did that once back in 1985 to my Dads 76 Cutlass, thought I would clean the motor in Auto class, when I drove home that day the car backfired so hard I almost Sh@# my pants,it also blew the muffler off.. I might give it a whirl this weekend, any recommendations on how to.Should I just run the motor and start spraying? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/gitaar.gif |
hmmmm, good question. I'd probably drive her around and get her good and warmed up, then open up the bonnet and GENTLY spray around the wires and distributor with a spray nozzle attached to the hose. Pay attention to the wires (more so than the dizzy) because I can almost guarantee that water will creep into the dizzy and give you a replay of the issues you've been having.
And, try as best as you can to avoid getting water around your airbox and the intake horn attached to it. |
