Anyone know what Excellence prices are now for the SC?

Hi gentlemen. I am back in the market for an sc and was wondering what a fine example of the 82-83 years would go for (i realize the many variables involved, just generally speaking).

Hi to anyone who remembers me. I tripped over the carrera 4 cam thread and was here last night. Cool story, man!

Pleco---:

Here's the information from the August 2010 issue of Excellence. For those who hate the Excellence numbers, I'm only presenting the information, not defending it, endorsing it, etc.

80-83 Coupe
so-so = 16,228
good = 18,451
ecxcellent = 24,700

80-83 Targa
so-so = 14,279
good = 17,646
excellent = 23,300

83 Cabrio
so-so 19,620
good = 22,307
excellent = 29,863

Well...

78 and 79 were SC's too, IIRC...

Prices similar?

$18,000 for a good SC. It is a joke.

if you are buying, start at 10K and go up. If you are selling, start at 12K and go down.

Thanks guys. Ptices do seem high here. Lets say there's an excellent condition sc thats selling for $22k. How much of a reduction in price would there be for no studbolt or camchain upgrade? Please try to use realistic numbers. Thanks!

At 22k i would be looking at getting 993, not an SC. Those Excellence prices are way put of wack. The market is way down for SC and 3.2 prices. No matter what expect to put in 3-5k for extras. Even on a low mileage premium 22k SC.

I want an sc for nostalgic reasons, and i absolutely love the look and sound of the car. So youre saying i should offer at least 3k less?

How many miles. At 22k I would expect to be in the 60,000 mile range. Those owners are tough to lower their prices but a car that hasn't been driven much might need more money put into than a car with 100,000 miles on her. If it doesn't have the upgrades then I would offer him 18k. That is still too high for a SC. At that kind of money I would get an 87-88 3.2.

If it is the car you want then go for it. Look at the 87-88 3.2's. When you get down into that kind of mileage that's when they jump passed $20k. If is a car you want and don't mind paying $20k, then buy it and have a blast with it. These cars do call out to you. Just don't buy the paint. Spend the $250 for a PPI to make sure that no expensive repairs are needed within the first few months of ownership.

I paid 10.5k for my 82 SC in August. The car had the engine/drive train completely rebuilt (documented) with tensioners. Recent (and very good) paint. The seller had advertised it at 12.5k we haggled, and after him removing the aftermarket stereo system we agreed upon the above price.
Night I picked it up
